Poplar Ridge Equestrian is an equestrian facility offering training for both the horse and rider, as well as pasture and training board. While we have a focus in hunter/jumper, we’ve recently included dressage into our training program as the foundation for all horses and riders. We have almost forty acres of pasture in the mountains, a 100’ x 200’ riding arena, and a round pen. The property is nestled in a cove surrounded by 100 more acres including springs and creeks, a pond and access to miles of trails.
All pasture board horses are kept with other mares or geldings, depending on their needs. Horses are checked over twice a day and receive necessary care. Board includes hay, water, and whatever outfit your horse may need—fly mask, blanket, rain sheet, etc. Supplemental services are provided depending on type of board.
Pasture board starts at $300 a month and increases according to the program you enroll in, such as feed or extra services.
Poplar Ridge’s main focus is our horseback riding lessons. We currently have 13horses, each of which contribute in one way or another. Whether it be teaching, riding, ground work or working on the line, every horse is handled by students on a daily basis. We have ponies and horses for riders ranging from the most timid adult, to students who are jumping and ready to show. Students pay for lessons monthly- in which all lessons must used within that month.
Private Lesson – $50/hour
Group Lesson – $35/hour (no more than 4 students per group)
Half-hour private – $35 (ages 5-7)
Ground Work – $25 for a half hour
Poplar Ridge also travels to shows, both in Asheville and to surrounding areas. Shows range from the local WNC hunter/jumper schooling circuit to rated hunter/jumper shows and recognized dressage shows at Tryon International Equestrian Center. Whether students want to show for fun, or show competitively, coaching and trailering is available for all. Fees vary depending on show, location, and other variables.
