Poplar Ridge Equestrian is privileged and excited to have recently acquired 2000 German Sport Pony Bennos Hit. Ben, as he is called around the barn, is not only a Prix St. George Schoolmaster but he was also the ‘Best of the Year’ at the German Sport Pony stallion inspections in Germany in 2002.

Ben has lived an exciting and colorful life preceding coming to Poplar Ridge. He traveled all over Canada and the US, winning championships and awards. His resume includes dressage level championships, sport pony champion at the royal, champion at the US Pony Cup and so on. Prior to being gelded, Ben sired many offspring who are following in his footsteps- champion dressage and hunter ponies, first premiums at inspections and more.

Ben came to PRE in the summer of 2017 when our interest in dressage started to grow. There is none better to learn from than a schoolmaster. Having shown up through Prix St. George, Ben can teach us more than we imagined. Though he has a colorful personality, Ben loves doing his job and is very serious about his work. Once you get on, he is all business. What makes Bennos a great teacher is how well he knows his stuff and how patient he is. He will never ‘give’ it to his rider but once you figure it out, he gives you 110%. Though Bennos is quite the horse, he is really coming around in the lesson program and teaching students of all abilities. He also loves to jump and makes a cute hunter- which adds to his resume even more. We cannot wait to see where Bennos Hit takes Poplar Ridge, both in the dressage ring and in our education.
